Q: Which alloy should I choose for the core?
A: Nozzle cores are manufactured from nickel silver, a type of brass or phosphor bronze.  Both metals cold work during processing and produce rigid thin wall nozzle cores capable of resisting deformation under pressure. 

Cores have equivalent wall thickness regardless of the metal used in the construction.  Higher tensile strength metal increases strength of the core.  Phosphor bronze has a slightly higher tensile strength than nickel silver. Nickel silver is more resistant to oxidation.  Micro size cores are made from nickel silver.

Q: Why use coatings?
A: Coatings are used to impart a desirable property to the surface of the core. Cores can be coated with nickel based coatings. Inside diameter of coated cores is reduced by approximately twice the thickness of the coating.

Some nickel based coating types can be applied to cores as small as 0.004 inch in diameter.

Coatings are applied to increase abrasion resistance, improve release of fluid, reduce wicking and smooth edges.

Q: Can you clean the nozzles?

A: The nozzles can be cleaned and reused at the customer’s discretion.

Q: Can other custom sizes be made?
A: Custom sizes can be made. Volume requirement must be substantial. .
Uncoated nozzle core aperture diameter can vary within 0.0006-inch range.
Nozzle core variation in length is within a range of 0.010-inch.

Q: Why are walls so thin?
A: Core walls are thin to produce the largest possible inside diameter for a standard medical tubing gage outside diameter. A thin wall minimizes area around the end of the tip of the core this aids fluid break off, reduces propensity for wicking and enables delivery of fluid closer to the target.

Q: What does the nozzle fit?
A: Nozzles are designed to fit standard male luer type connections that comply with ISO 594 standard. Most syringe barrels use this connection.

Q: What is the advantage of a reusable hub and cores compared with assemblies?
A: Reusable hubs lower cost of the consumable core by reducing the number of process steps required for manufacture. Cores can use the hub as a source of thermal energy in service. Process waste is reduced; only the core is discarded.
